I have always loved candles, the simple comfort they bring and the way a scent can soften a room or shift a mood. For years, I bought candles from the supermarket, but as someone with asthma, I often noticed they didn’t sit well with me. That curiosity about what was actually in them eventually pushed me to learn more.
In 2023, I began experimenting with waxes, wicks and fragrances. After my 9-5 job, and often on weekends, I spent my free time testing different combinations and learning how each ingredient affects the way a candle burns and carries scent. Those quiet evenings of trial and discovery slowly grew into a genuine passion, and that passion became Danēli.
Danēli is hand-crafted in small batches using 100% pure coconut wax and 100% phthalate‑free fragrance oils, made with care in Wellington, New Zealand. Each candle is poured with intention, created to bring warmth and calm into your home and to offer a moment to pause, breathe, and unwind in the middle of a busy day.
Why Our Candles
Our pure coconut wax begins with cold‑pressed coconut meat, transformed through a gentle hydrogenation process into a smooth, bright white natural wax. Coconuts are a renewable, high‑yield crop, which makes this wax sustainable, non‑GMO and free from pesticides.
It burns exceptionally clean with no soot, no petrocarbon particles and nothing that discolours walls or affects the air in your home. We pair it with high‑performance, phthalate‑free fragrances that create a safer scent experience without compromising strength or quality. Phthalates are chemicals sometimes used to extend fragrance longevity, but they are linked to health concerns, so we choose not to use them.
Coconut wax carries fragrance beautifully. Even before lighting, the scent is noticeable, and once burning, it fills a room with ease. Every candle features a flat braided cotton wick for an even, steady burn and is poured into a durable glass vessel designed for reliable heat resistance and structural safety.
